In today’s market place, the protection of intangible assets is essential to ensure market differentiation and positioning, with the goal of offering better products and services to consumers.

There are different ways to protect your intangible assets:

  • Trade marks to distinguish your products or services—or both—from those of another company.
  • Designs to protect the aesthetics, ornamentation, or appearance of your product.
  • Inventions if you have a new device, product, or procedure that solves a technical problem.
  • Etc…

These assets can be protected at national level at the Spanish Office of Patents and Trademarks (OEPM) or at a European level at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

In addition, there is an SME fund (financial support scheme) designed to help small and medium-sized companies protect their intellectual property rights at national or European level, with savings of up to 75% and an annual call for grants to promote the applications of patents and utility models in Spain and abroad.
