Construmat promotes industrialization for a more sustainable construction

Industrialized construction, as a tool for a more sustainable construction has been the main theme of the 23rd edition of Construmat, the construction show of Fira de Barcelona, which closes its doors today at the Gran Via venue with a very positive balance after three days of intense activity in which it registered a total of 21,027 visitors, 40% more than in the 2023 edition. As a result, Construmat strengthens its recovery and reasserts itself as the major trade fair event for Spanish construction.

With 314 exhibitors and more than 600 brands, 50% more than in 2023, Construmat closes today an edition marked by growth and business dynamization, as well as a clear commitment of the industry to innovation and sustainability. In this sense, industrialized construction, consisting of the manufacture of structural elements in the factory for subsequent assembly on site, was highlighted at the event as one of the most effective present and future trend in the industry, together with wood construction, new materials or systems that make buildings more efficient in terms of energy and water management.

The President of Construmat and Vice President of APCE Spain, Xavier Vilajoana, was grateful for the support of over 130 professional associations, institutions, and companies in the industry. “Construmat is an event of the industry and for the industry. In this edition the show has taken a step forward in its aim to bring added value, solutions and business to our professionals, and we are sure that we will continue to grow in the future alongside this key industry in full transformation.

In turn, the Director of Construmat, Roger Bou, underlined “the variety of sectors represented at this edition in a broader sample of the construction ecosystem which, with innovation and sustainability as requirements, allowed us to offer more business opportunities.”

Demos, conferences and investment
In addition to being the best commercial showcase for the sector, Construmat featured a comprehensive program of content and professional activities. The exhibition included a two-story house made of wood and other natural elements, one of the main attractions of this year’s edition. In addition, there were more than 120 speakers at the Sustainable Building Congress, where Morocco, as this year’s guest country, presented its infrastructure projects to host the 2030 World Cup.

Also, more than 20 startups in the field of construction participated in the PropCon-Hub, 10 practical workshops were held and the Construmat Awards, curated by the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, were presented, honoring two projects, one in Cornellà and the other in Germany, built under sustainability criteria.

The next edition of Construmat will take place from May 20 to 22, 2025 at the Gran Via venue of Fira de Barcelona.
