The Construmat Awards 2024 reward the most sustainable architectural works
Fira de Barcelona’s international construction show launches its 20th Construmat Awards which, in its 2024 edition and with the curatorship of the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, will distinguish projects that stand out for their commitment to sustainability, the main theme of the upcoming event.
On the 23rd edition of Construmat, which will take place from May 21st to 23rd at the Gran Via venue, the show organizers and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, an institution of international prestige in the research, debate and dissemination of architectural culture, have renewed their collaboration agreement to jointly organise the Construmat Prizes.
In 2024 these awards will reward the work of those teams, individuals, companies, consultants, developers, industrialists and professionals who, through their work, contribute to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) designed by the United Nations in its 2030 Agenda. For this reason, awards will be given to national and international buildings completed between 2019 and 2023 that are embody architectural excellence and are benchmarks of environmental sustainability.
The works competing for the awards will be previously selected by a committee of experts comprised of representatives of Spanish and international institutions, organisations and associations linked to the promotion of sustainability in architecture. This committee includes the Associació d’Arquitectes per la Sostenibilitat (AuS-COAC), the Asociación Sostenibilidad y Arquitectura (ASA), the Green Building Council España (GBCe), Bauhaus-Earth and L’Architecture d’Aujord’hui (AA).
Jury and public awards
A jury of renowned professionals and academics in the field of sustainable architecture practice and research will select the winning project from among those shortlisted. In addition, this edition will feature a new award to the work selected by the public.
The Construmat Awards ceremony will be held on May 22nd as part of the show’s activities.
Launched in 1985, the Construmat Awards are held every two years and are recognized in the professional sphere as one of the most important in the construction sector.
