Curated by Fundació Mies van der Rohe

We reaffirm our commitment to sustainability as the central theme of our event through the CONSTRUMAT Awards, curated by Fundació Mies van der Rohe, an institution with international experience in research, criticism, and dissemination of modern and contemporary architecture.

Recognizing the most sustainable buildings

Established in 1985, the CONSTRUMAT Awards are held every two years and have consistently recognized excellence in architectural and engineering works and projects. Throughout their history, they have highlighted environmentally friendly construction, the transversality of professional services, and innovation through research into construction systems and new materials.

Forty years after their inception, the CONSTRUMAT Awards continue to honour the contributions of professional teams, individuals and companies —including consultants, developers, industrialists, and clients—whose projects support the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to implement the 2030 Agenda, turning them into reference works for future strategic initiatives.

Procedure and categories

The CONSTRUMAT Awards focus on environmental SUSTAINABILITY and, more specifically in this year, on HEALTHY ARCHITECTURE. As with the previous edition, and due to the award’s specialized nature, an expert committee has been established to nominate a selection of relevant projects in this field. These projects highlight the principles and professional commitment to constructing and creating sustainable, efficient, healthy, and affordable environments and spaces that foster the well-being of both people and the planet.

Two PRIZES will be awarded among the nominated works by the expert committee:

  • Prize to the winning proposal chosen by a qualified jury.

  • Prize to the work selected by public vot.

The jury

The jury responsible for selecting the winning work is comprised of three members with recognized professional and/or academic backgrounds in the field of practice and research in sustainable architecture.
